Why you'd want to live in Hidden Hills

Hidden Hills was designed in the 1950s by A.E. Hanson a renowned Southern CA planned community developer and landscape architect. His earlier projects included Rolling Hills, Palos Verdes Estates and the 1920s Beverly Hills 'Greenacres” Estate. Hidden Hills is a gated community with a total land area of 1.7 square miles. It was the first gated community in the West San Fernando Valley. According to A.E. Hanson, his children enjoyed books about the Old West explorers and trappers, so many of the roads in the Round Meadow area were named for key figures, in hopes that future generations of children in Hidden Hills would become interested in the history of the Old West. In 1956 A.E. Hanson turned over his ownership of certain properties to the Hidden Hills Community Assoc., including the Long Valley Road, the front Gate House, the Pool and the School Bus Stop. He then sold his undeveloped land to Hidden Hills Estates, Inc where the second major developer Lamond Chamberlain was President. In 1961 Hidden Hills launched a petition to become a separate city rather than be annexed to Los Angeles City. Hidden Hills became the 73rd city in Los Angeles County. According to the 2010 Census Hidden Hills consists of 1856 Residents in 593 Households. Properties are an acre or larger and many have equestrian facilities. Riding trails wind throughout the community dotted with corrals and barns where friendly faces on four legs look out as you drive past. There are no sidewalks or street lights just white 3 rail fencing. The community is an eclectic mix of original ranch homes with barns and new homes with sports courts. Regardless the Association hosts many community events and takes special pride in those designed for children and their families. Residents attend Las Virgenes school district, including Round Meadow Elementary and Calabasas High School
