When
you were first married and as your family grew, you needed more room to make
sure everyone had their space. Those were wonderful times where you could have
the family, friends and neighbors over for those intimate parties and there was
room to spare.
Now,
however, the kids have their own lives and have left you with an empty nest. So
at the end of the day, you look around and wonder what you could do with all
this space.
It
is getting harder to keep up with the attention your home needs and you would
really like to spend your time any way you please. You would like to get back
to those intimate parties, and be able to move around the community at your
own pace.
You
have found that Calabasas has
built a community that has comfortable living, many amenities within short
distance and various community activities to keep you busy year around. They
even have a Trolley system that practically picks you up at your door.
So
you have “the talk” with your spouse and you both decide it is time to make a
move for yourself. You still want the room to have the family get-togethers,
but something a little more manageable, but where do you start and is this
something that fits your budget?
How
do you put years of living into something a little smaller and easier to take
care of? You could just go through and throw everything out, but what about all
those memories and sentimental belongings that have accumulated over the years?
There has to be a way to find a happy medium. As with any move a plan is the
best way to get started.
You
might start with a professional
consultant, a person who will help you consolidate every thing with an
objective, compassionate eye. This way you can downsize, give some things to
the children, make donations and still keep the most important items you want to
remain around you.
The
next step is to decide which type of housing
you would like. You can choose between a
townhouse, condo or a smaller home
that would give you the best of both worlds. Both Calabasas and Woodland Hills
offer a wide assortment of townhouses with recreation facilities or single
story homes with lower maintenance, smaller yards without pools, that the grandkids
would absolutely love! That cozy little bungalow you started out your married
life in might be just the spot to spend the rest of your married life in also.
They
say these are the best years of your life. Why not really make them that way?
Make your plan to get your life back, in the best way you can. Move to a
property that will be easier to maintain. You will still have everything you love
around you and room for family functions. Calabasas or Woodland Hills may be just
the answer you are looking for!
