Woodland Hills Senior High and Middle School
El Camino Real Charter High School or “ECR” as it is known locally, is located near Woodland Hills real estate in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, California. The school is a public secondary school and was founded in 1969. The design of ECR was modeled after a small college campus with a central square. An open campus policy was included as part of the plans for the school. With an Academic Performance Index of 805 out of 1000, it is no wonder Woodland Hills homes for sale are highly desired by families.
El Camino Real Charter High School has many programs that have taken top awards in state, regional and national competitions. One example is the Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS). They promote interest in engineering, technology, math and science for high school students by providing them with problem-solving experiences and real-world engineering teamwork. The Team participates in the Test of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science (TEAMS) Competition. The competition is sponsored by the Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California. The ECR JETS Team placed 1st in Regionals in the competition in 2010 and progressed to the Nationals.
El Camino Real has won the Envirothon regional competition for seven years in a row. The 2006 team was first in the state and progressed to the nationals in Canada where they placed fourth. Among students attending El Camino Real, 55.2% scored “proficient” or above in English on the California Standards Tests and 44.8% scored “proficient” or above in math.
The ECR Robotics Team 404 were semifinalists at the U.S. National Championship in 2011. The team was second in the Orlando, Florida Science Division of the World Championship in 2011. The ECR Team 404 also won the 2009 Vex World Championship in Dallas, Texas. This competition hosted approximately 300 robots from across the globe.
El Camino Real High School became a California Distinguished School in 2009. With many programs and high academic achievements, the school is one of the most highly desired by parents who choose Woodland Hills’ real estate.
